Farewell Mezzy Mez

Jul. 6th, 2008 | 11:38 am
mood: sad sad

I'm reposting ths here for the benefit of those who don't hit the DoT site.
====

It's hard to believe, but I just found out that Mezzy died on July 4th in a car crash. I don't know anything more than that. I'm sure Ald, or someone else nearer will have more details.

I first met Mezzy years and years ago in Star Wars Galaxies, the little dog faced boy who would run around spastically in circles in our cantina. Since then he's long been a friend, and I have had so many good times with him. I always wished I lived near him to be able to hang out in person. It's going to be so odd not seeing him every 10 minutes checking the forum. Or talking late at night on vent while playing whatever. I will truly miss him.

Rest well my friend.

The Big Read

Stolen from [info]msretro. Half I read only because of school.

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well let's see.

What can one say, Spore is still on track not to suck. Here's my collection so far. Totally spring the $10 and buy the editor, even if its blatantly evil of EA to charge for a friggin editor. At the very least, download the demo.

Here's a few videos.

Sadly, I lost my kitteh spore creature. For some reason, he didn't save.

My favorite food pr0n

May. 22nd, 2008 | 02:05 pm

So, a few days ago, I spent like over an hour trying to find this website which I occasionally stumbleupon. Couldn't find it. Tried google, tried going through my stumble likes (hello stumbelupon, some basic filters would be good).

Today, first stumble, I hit it. So I'm posting it here so I don't forget again.

While [info]photog42 has been busy getting his first CPAP & mask... Mine decided to have the semi-annual breaking of a piece. So I went online looking for parts. While doing so, I looked at my medical supply company's bill from October when I got my yearly covered mask. They billed the insurance company $270. Looking online, the mask apparently costs $110. Shocking that insurance costs go up.

The Mist

May. 4th, 2008 | 08:50 am

Watched The Mist last night. It brought back sweet nostalgia for playing Call of Cthulhu. Very definately worth watching. The feel good movie of the year, I tell ya. What? Don't look at me like that.

On things GTA

Apr. 28th, 2008 | 07:52 pm
mood: bored bored

Tonight is the midnight launch of Grand Theft Auto 4. Traditionally, a series I have ignored, other than a brief glance through Vice City, because I didn't have a ps2 and I didnt care by the time it ported. A couple weeks ago, on a lark, I ended up preordering. I'm not sure why exactly, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the game being very pretty, and well, it's not like there's a lot of games for the ps3.

So, now I debate if I actually want to bother picking it up at midnight, or just wait till tommorrow. I know I wont play it till tommorrow night, but there's something to be said for having it waiting. Plus there's always the curiousity of how many people will show up. For WoW:BC, it was a fuck ton in frigid weather. For GH3, about 20. Curious what GTA4 will be.

Then there's the idea of showing up to be a nice tally mark on the books, so in the future the store continues to have midnight launches, say when a title I do care about shows up.

hmmm

So..

Apr. 27th, 2008 | 10:27 am

I was flipping through channels last night and came across Zomboo playing the original Little Shop of Horrors. I don't think I'd ever seen it before, and wow, was it horrendously bad. I didn't realize till I imdb'd it that it was Roger Corman, and on top of that, filmed in 2 days. It shows. It really shows. At least it wasn't a musical...

There was a 4.9 ~11:50 though it seems to have disappeared off the chart. It definately wasnt anything below 4... it did show before.

Wheeeee! Earthquakes

Apr. 24th, 2008 | 03:59 pm
mood: bouncy bouncy

Just had 2 quakes in a row. Been a while, haven't really felt any since leaving california. I think the first was 4.1, sharp jolt. Second was a rolling 2.5, at least thats what it look like from usgs. The are has been having quite a few in the past weeks but nothing major.

Apparently missed feeling two others earlier in the hour. 2.6, 3.8 though they were a tad bit farther.

Dilemma

In this corner, the amazing Weighted Companion Cube.

In the opposing corner, $29.99 and only 6". It's also very barely cube shaped.

Ah well, I'll just keep debating, and it'll sell out immediately. Again.

I specced a box for fun.

Mar. 20th, 2008 | 12:57 pm

I wouldn't actualy buy this, but I specced this box for fun. Not happy with the motherboard, I would want a newer one that doesnt exist yet. Plus I think there's room for the SSD to go down in price and up in storage.

Plus, it has that silly card.

Mind you, if one these showed up, I wouldnt be heartbroken.

Sure is perty

Mar. 18th, 2008 | 10:36 pm

Although it would be cheaper to strap together a couple cards. I'm hoping to stretch my hardware out another year. This cycle I've really been pleased with my choices. First computer i think where upgrades really kept it alive, but then it was in the lower bracket of the high end gear when I bought it. I'm hoping to wait till DX10 becomes a necessity, and not a curse.
